Autumn on the Hillingdon Ranch
“… despite starting with a bang, fall still manages to sneak in quietly, beginning with an almost imperceptible hint of cool. Its arrival cannot be predicted, but when it turns up, usually early in the morning, the cool air holds the promise of a much-anticipated change. Texans revel in its presence, knowing that summer’s oppressive heat is beginning its retreat. Initially, the cool air appears briefly, but as time passes, the Earth wobbles slightly on its axis enabling the sun to begin its seasonal trek to the south, and cooler temperatures begin to gain the upper hand. Shadows begin to lengthen, and the direct sunlight becomes less harsh.”
